## Frequently Asked Questions

### How much does Tended cost?

$39.99 a year with the first month free, or $6.99 a month with no trial.
Either way everything is unlocked from the first screen — the whole catalog
across Home, Health, Digital, Car, Supplies and Finance, and every item added
later. Both plans sit in one subscription group, so only one is ever active and
you can move between them. The free month is Apple's
introductory offer and is granted once per Apple ID, so if you have used
it before, the app charges from the start and tells you so on the
subscription screen. After the trial, a subscription is required to keep
using the app. Cancel any time in Settings.

### Do I have to set it all up myself?

No — that's rather the point. Onboarding is a short conversation: the app
asks which part of life you want to start with — home, money, car, health
or your digital life — and then up to seven questions about that one, covering
what you have, what you already do, and what you've never got round to. About
a minute. Your answers decide which items apply, and the app spreads them
across the next twelve months so no single week ends up carrying five jobs.
You start with one area rather than all six, which is deliberate: a calendar
with fifty things on it from day one is a calendar you close. The rest of the
catalog is there to add from whenever you want. Everything can be moved
afterwards, but nothing is waiting on you to configure it.

### What notifications does Tended send?

Two a day at most. A morning list telling you what today holds, and an
evening check-in telling you what's still open. Each switches off on its
own, and turning off both is how the app goes silent. The morning has
separate times for weekdays and weekends, because people lie in. Neither
fires on a day with nothing on it, and the evening one is rebuilt after
every check-off — so if you finish the last thing at noon, it never
arrives. No per-item pings, no streaks, no third slot.

### I missed something. Does the app get cross about it?

Nothing turns red and nothing shouts at you. A missed item stays visible
as worth checking and is counted honestly — hiding it would defeat the
point of an app whose whole job is noticing. But it's a number on a
screen, not a telling-off, and there's no streak to break.

### I did something a bit late. Does that shift the whole schedule?

No. Checking something off closes that day and leaves the rest of the year
exactly where it was. That's deliberate: a schedule that slides every time
you're a few days late stops being a schedule, and by spring everything
has drifted into the same week. Doing something early works the same way —
the next occurrence was always going to be where it is.

### Can I add my own items?

Everything you schedule comes from the catalog — 200+ items, each with a
researched interval, a reason it matters, and for most of them a named
source. You can't type in your own, and that's on purpose: the value is in
the things you'd never have thought to write down. What you can do is
change any interval, move anything to a different day, and stop tracking
anything at any time. If something important to your life is missing,
email us — suggestions get researched before they go into the catalog.

### An interval seems wrong for my situation.

Change it — open the item and edit its schedule, and the app keeps your
version rather than the default. The defaults come from manufacturer
specifications, public health guidance and similar sources, but life
varies: a filter in a house with two cats isn't on the same clock as one
in a studio flat. If you think a default is wrong for everyone and not
just for you, tell us. We'd rather get it right than be right.

### What happens if I stop subscribing?

Nothing is deleted, ever. Your schedule and your completion history stay
exactly as they were, the notifications stop, and the app waits behind the
subscription screen. Resubscribe or restore and everything is where you
 left it.

### How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed entirely by Apple. Open Settings on your iPhone
→ tap your name → Subscriptions → Tended → Cancel Subscription. Access
continues to the end of the billing period you've already paid for. We
don't handle billing and can't cancel on your behalf.

### Can I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple through
 [reportaproblem.apple.com](https://reportaproblem.apple.com),
under Apple's refund policy. We have no access to payment information and
 can't issue refunds directly.

### How do I restore my subscription?

Open Tended → Settings → Restore Purchases. It's also on the subscription
screen itself, so you can restore without getting past it. Your
subscription is tied to your Apple ID — signed in with the same one,
access comes back instantly and at no charge.

### I switched to a new iPhone. How do I get my schedule back?

If you set the new phone up from an iCloud backup or a direct
iPhone-to-iPhone transfer, Tended and your history come across with it. If
you set it up as a new device, they don't — there's no cloud sync, so
nothing of yours is stored on our side to pull down. Run through
onboarding again and you'll have your year back in a couple of minutes.

### How do I reset all my data?

Delete the app from your iPhone — that removes all locally stored history
and settings. Reinstall from the App Store for a clean start. If you'd
rather have a reset button inside the app than reinstall, say so and we'll
 look at adding one.

### What data does Tended collect?

There's no account and no sign-up, and your schedule and completion
history live on your iPhone — there's no server behind the app and no
cloud sync. What we do collect is anonymous analytics: a randomly
generated device identifier, which features get used, coarse location at
country or city level derived from your IP address, keywords typed into
the catalog search, and anything you send us through feedback. No
advertising networks, no tracking across other companies' apps, nothing
sold. The full detail is in the
 [privacy policy](https://tended.mintbyte.app/privacy).

### I have a suggestion for a new item.

We'd love to hear it. Every suggestion gets researched against
authoritative sources before it's considered — nothing goes into the
catalog casually, because the researched reason is the part you're paying
 for. Email [tended@mintbyte.app](mailto:tended@mintbyte.app).

### I found a bug.

Email [tended@mintbyte.app](mailto:tended@mintbyte.app) with what
happened, your iPhone model, and your iOS version. Screenshots or a screen
recording help a lot. We read every report and respond to every one.

## Still need help?

We're a small team. We read every email.

## About Tended

Tended is an iOS app that ships with a researched catalog of 241 recurring maintenance
items across six areas of life: home, health, digital, car, supplies and finances. Every
item carries a recommended interval and the reason it matters, and most cite a named
source. The intervals quoted on this page come from that catalog.

Setup is a short conversation: you pick the part of life to start with and answer up to
seven questions about it, and the app spreads the items that apply across the next twelve
months. $39.99 a year with the first month free, or $6.99 a month. iPhone, iOS 26 or later.
